just to be clear

I hold no misconceptions about the possibilities of the Cards acquiring Jake Peavy via trade or witchcraft or what have you. I realize that there is a better chance of yours truly pitching opening day at Busch stadium than Jake Peavy becoming a Redbird. That being said, I'm not saying I would balk at the idea of such a solid arm joining the rotation, but I would rather spend our payroll on our real weaknesses. The bullpen needs some left-handed help, we could use a middle infielder (or two), you all know what the weaknesses are so I won't belabor the point. All I'm saying is that this is not something anyone should get up in arms over, and I'd advise you not to be disappointed if the boundless rumors do indeed turn out to be just that.
